Museum story
Norfolk Tank Museum is a smaller independent institution with a strong hands-on preservation identity. Its focus is mainly twentieth-century and Cold War military vehicles, weapons, and militaria, and the museum describes its armored collection as machines maintained in working condition or actively awaiting restoration.
The museum also uses reconstruction to interpret vehicles that do not survive locally in original form. Its full-size Mark IV replica, Deborah II, was built for a television project and remains clearly identified as a replica, providing a useful example of how a museum can interpret design and crew space without confusing reproduction with an original survivor.

Collection character
British postwar armor is the collection’s strongest thread. The museum lists Centurion AVRE, Mk 13 gun tank, and ARV variants, a Chieftain main battle tank, Saladin armored car, FV432 and FV434, and CVR(T) Scorpion. It also holds an M41 Walker Bulldog. Several vehicles can operate during Armourfest and other events, while others remain static for close public access.

What to expect
This is a more intimate museum than Bovington or Muckleburgh, and that is part of its appeal. Visitors can get close to vehicles and, for selected exhibits, experience crew spaces in ways that are not always possible in national collections. Opening days are limited, so the current schedule is essential when planning a trip.
What the museum holds
The museum’s collection navigation provides exact vehicle names across British armor, foreign vehicles, tracked support equipment, and artillery. Small arms and radio holdings are not counted in this armor-focused guide.
