Museum story
Rikkun Land was created as a public-facing introduction to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. Rather than functioning only as a historical museum, it explains current missions, organization, disaster-response work, training, and equipment to a broad civilian audience.
The center’s value for armor history comes from the direct presentation of postwar Japanese vehicle development. Visitors can see several generations of domestic main battle tanks alongside a current wheeled maneuver combat vehicle and other JGSDF equipment.
Collection character
The official exhibition guide identifies a Type 16 Maneuver Combat Vehicle inside the building. Outdoor displays include Type 10, Type 90, and Type 74 tanks, providing an unusually compact visual sequence of Japan’s late Cold War and modern armored development.
The same guide also lists aviation, light vehicles, a Type 96 wheeled armored vehicle, simulators, historical material, and interactive displays. Only vehicles with an exact corresponding Armor Archive family are linked in this wave.

What to expect
This is an active-service public information center with a family-oriented and interactive presentation style. Tank and flight simulators, large screens, hands-on interpretation, and current equipment make the visit different from a conventional historic-vehicle museum.
The official site publishes split morning and afternoon opening sessions and regular closure days. Visitors should confirm current entry rules, holiday closures, and any reservation requirements before traveling to the Asaka Garrison area.
