PLZ-45

Development and design

Norinco developed the vehicle around a 155 mm 45-calibre weapon and a turret with semi-automatic ammunition handling. Its fire-control and support-vehicle package was marketed as a complete artillery system. ^{1, 2}

Operational use

PLZ-45 systems were exported to several Middle Eastern and North African armies and provided an important operational and industrial step toward later Chinese 155 mm designs. ^{1, 2}

Role and significance

The PLZ-45 is the bridge between the 152 mm PLZ-83 generation and the more advanced PLZ-05 family, while also showing China’s growing role as an artillery exporter. ^{1, 2}
