The M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System gave NATO armies a tracked armored launcher able to deliver massed rockets and, later, precision-guided rockets and tactical missiles from the same modular launcher.

Development and design
Developed for high-volume Cold War fires, the M270 used a tracked chassis related to the Bradley family and a launcher module carrying interchangeable pods. Successive A1 and A2 upgrades modernized fire control, protection, mobility, and compatible munitions. 1, 2
Operational use
The M270 served in the Gulf War and has remained in widespread international service. Modernized launchers can fire GMLRS, extended-range rockets, and newer precision-strike missiles. 1, 2
