Muzeum Broni Pancernej w Poznaniu

The Armored Weaponry Museum in Poznań is a branch of the Polish Army Museum focused on tanks and tracked fighting vehicles. Its official object catalog identifies individual vehicles, including factory hull numbers for several Soviet and Polish-service examples, providing unusually strong specific-vehicle provenance for reciprocal archive links.

Museum story

The Muzeum Broni Pancernej in Poznań became a formal branch of the Polish Army Museum on 1 April 2015. Its current public facility opened in 2019, giving the collection four themed exhibition pavilions plus a large covered outdoor display area. The museum continues a longer Poznań tradition of preserving the history of Polish armored units and their equipment.

Because it is part of the Polish Army Museum system, the institution combines national military history with detailed object-level preservation. Its interpretation covers Polish armored traditions, wartime service, postwar equipment, and foreign vehicles that influenced or opposed Polish forces.

Collection character

The museum reports about 230 exhibits, including roughly 75 vehicles from around the world. Its public object catalog is especially valuable because it often records exact hull or factory numbers, provenance, restoration history, and service context. Several vehicles have been restored to running condition, and the collection includes rare Polish, Soviet, German, British, and American types.

What to expect

The four indoor pavilions are arranged thematically, supplemented by a covered external display. The museum also offers a bilingual mobile guide and detailed catalog material for visitors who want more than identification placards. For researchers, the combination of physical access and unusually specific object records makes Poznań one of the strongest sites in the network for tracing individual surviving vehicles rather than only vehicle types.
