ZSU-37

Development and design

Soviet designers pursued a tracked anti-aircraft vehicle that could follow armored formations. The eventual ZSU-37 used an SU-76-family automotive base with an open turret mounting a single 37 mm automatic cannon. ^{1, 2}

Operational use

Production began only in 1945, too late for a meaningful wartime role, and continued in small numbers into the early postwar period. ^{1, 2}

Role and significance

Although limited, ZSU-37 began the Soviet tracked SPAAG lineage that later produced the far more influential ZSU-57-2 and ZSU-23-4. ^{1, 2}
