CVR(T) Family: Scimitar, Spartan, Sultan, Samson and Striker

Origins and design

The British CVR(T) program sought a very light, air-transportable tracked reconnaissance family. The common chassis supported multiple mission bodies and turrets, allowing formations to field reconnaissance, command, recovery, personnel-carrying, and missile vehicles with shared automotive support. ^{1, 2}

Operational use

Scorpion and Scimitar became the best-known fighting variants, while Spartan, Sultan, Samson, and Striker filled specialist roles. The family served in the Falklands, Gulf War, Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other deployments before British retirement programs reduced the fleet. ^{1, 2}
