Origins and design
Building on the BA-3 and BA-6, the BA-10 used a somewhat smaller, better sloped armored body on the GAZ-AAA-derived chassis. The 45 mm gun gave it substantial firepower against light vehicles and early tanks. 1
Operational use
BA-10s fought at Khalkhin Gol, in Soviet campaigns of 1939–40, and in the early German-Soviet war. Captured vehicles were also reused by Finland, Germany, and other Axis forces. 1
Reconnaissance role and lineage
The BA-10 represents the high point of the Soviet heavy 6×4 armored-car line before wartime experience and production realities pushed reconnaissance toward lighter 4×4 designs. 1
