Bernardini X1A2 / X1 series

The Bernardini X1/X1A2 family was not a clean-sheet main battle tank. It was a Brazilian Cold War modernization pathway that began with M3/M3A1 Stuart light tanks and progressively moved toward a locally designed tracked combat vehicle.

Historical overview

The Bernardini X1/X1A2 family was not a clean-sheet main battle tank. It was a Brazilian Cold War modernization pathway that began with M3/M3A1 Stuart light tanks and progressively moved toward a locally designed tracked combat vehicle. The baseline X1 Pioneiro was a deep Stuart conversion, while the X1A2 Carcara was described by Brazilian-focused sources as a new or substantially new light tank using Stuart lineage, inherited components, and domestic production knowledge. Design and performance
