Museum story
The museum opened in 1970 inside the pedestal of the monumental complex now dominated by the Mother Armenia statue. Its architecture, memorial landscape, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and military galleries combine national remembrance with a commanding view over Yerevan.
The indoor narrative is organized around Armenian service in the Second World War and the Artsakh conflict. The institution came under the Armenian Ministry of Defense in the 1990s and now presents both Soviet-era and post-Soviet military memory.
Collection character
Official city tourism information reports more than 30,000 exhibits and identifies several outdoor weapons around the pedestal. Among them is a T-34 tank, which supports one precise reciprocal Armor Archive relationship.
Other displayed systems include a BTR-152, a BM-13, an aircraft, anti-aircraft weapons, and missiles, but not all have corresponding Armor Archive family profiles. The profile links only the T-34 rather than forcing partial or mismatched relationships.
What to expect
The museum experience includes indoor galleries, the memorial architecture, the outdoor weapons display, and the surrounding Victory Park. Visitors should allow time to understand how these elements work together as a national commemorative landscape.
Published sources report free entry and differing weekday and weekend hours. Confirm the current schedule and photography policy, especially because the national portal indicates that photo and video may not be permitted.

The official Visit Yerevan museum profile explicitly identifies a T-34 tank in the open-air weapons display around the Mother Armenia pedestal.
